Course Content: Manual Handling (1/2 Day)

This course covers the following:

 

  • Complying with the law and regulations – responsible persons, H&S at Work Act, Manual Handling Legislations 1992

  • Why is Manual Handling Training necessary? HSE Accident Records

  • Risk Assessment: Identifying and defining danger, hazard and risk

  • Manual Handling: Principles & Practices; proper and improper techniques and methods.

  • Anatomy & Physiology in relations to Manual Handling

  • Practical Exercises: Identify hazard and risk. Practical application of correct technique – apply push/pull/lift/lower/carry.

 

This is a combination of powerpoint, discussion and interactive learning.

Participants are encouraged to ask questions and lead discussion.
 

All candidates will be issued with the appropriate questionnaires to assess learning and knowledge, this is a learning aid only and not indicative of pass/fail.
